The Coast to Coast Arrives in Sumner

Approaching the end of the 70km cycling section of the Speights Coast to Coast.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of what's claimed to be the world's longest-running multisport event.

Competitors complete the 70km cycling section to run the final 100 metres.

The triumphal arch at the Sumner Beach finish line, where flags honour the more than 1500 international entrants.

Team event winners Aucklander Steven McKinstry and Daniel Busch of Nelson.

First woman over the line, Christchurch's Olivia Spencer-Bower.

Among the crowd, a handsome pair of kunekunes.

After sundown they're still coming. Lyttelton writer Joe Bennett calls the names of competitors as they cross the finish line.

Robin Judkins offers his congratulations.

Kayaking blisters.
